For anyone that questioned road conditions this morning and the decision to close schools across most of central MD, you’re about to see what I think was one of the factors in their decision. A serious snow squall accompanied by gusty winds of up to 50 mph will be crossing the area over the next couple of hours. If you are on the roads, be prepared for near whiteout conditions and immediate icy roads. If can put off any driving for the remainder of the afternoon, even better. Behind the front is dangerous cold with air temperatures dropping rapidly into the teens and wind chills dropping well below freezing. Be careful when going outdoors for the next 48 hours.
More on Friday’s potential early tomorrow.
